"Are you afraid of poetry? Have you been attacked by a terror dactyl?
Are you spooked by spores of spondee?
Then you've come to the write place!
Does the Illiad make you feel ill? Does the Odyssey strike you as odd?
Then you've come to the write place!
Have you lost your poetic license? Have you been fined $50 for
alliteration in front of your building?
Then you've come to the write place!
The poetry place. Where you can outdo your onomatapeers and sail
to an Imagi-nation."
-Douglas Florian

Greetings fellow poets!

Welcome to the first posting on our illustrious blog! Feel free to leave comments and participate -politely-in any discussions sparked by this blog.

Poetry...words...language...thoughts...emotions...are all a gift from God. I look forward to delving further into the wild and woolly world of poetry. (did you catch the alliteration!)

HOMEWORK: Complete the *Brainstorm*page sent home today.

***Also, begin to type out the poems you have chosen to read aloud to the class, there should be two so far. (They can fit on the same page if you would like.) Be sure to include the title and the author :0) Check with your parents for the next step. If it is ok with your parents, print out 15 copies of your poems. These will be shared with fellow poets in our class to make our own Anthology of Poetry! Ahhh! I can feel the excitement flowing through the air as you read this!!

Patrick and Rachael, your first two poems were wonderful...and long. If you would like to type out the "best parts", that would be fine.

If time permits in your family, bring the copies in next week.
